Taking the most commonly used 304 stainless steel in condensers of power plants as the test samples
the main affecting factors upon adopting the constant potential cathodic polarization method for evaluating scale-inhibitor's performance have been determined. Results show that the sequence of main affecting factors is listed as in the following:the potential of polarization
the concentration of ions for scale formation
the time of polarization
and the temperature for polarization. The test conditions after optimization are:the polarization voltage-1.040 V
CaCl2 9.0 mmol/L NaHCO3 18.0 mmol/L
the polarization time 4 h
the reaction temperature 45.0 ℃.After optimization of the test conditions
the relative error in measurement of scale-inhibiting rate reduced 42%
the distinguishability being substantially enhanced.
