In order to solve the difficult problems occurred during numerical simulation modeling of low temperature pre-combustion
the chemical kinetic simplified model and three-dimensional CFD model were used to calculate the composition of flue gas at outlet of the pre-combustion chamber. Then
the obtained flue gas compositions were introduced into the furnace combustion simulation study as known values. Comparison between the simulation results and the experimental data proved that this simulation method is reliable. In order to obtain the effect of flue gas residence time on denitrification efficiency
the furnace combustion with four secondary main combustion zone lengths(900 mm
1 200 mm
1 500 mm and 1 800 mm) were simulated. The results show that the NO emissions decrease linearly with the increasing residence time in the main combustion zone. The reason is that NO is reduced to N2 mainly by soot in the secondary main combustion zone. The conclusion is suitable to situations that other gases are used as the preheating fuels in the pre-combustion chamber.
