In order to solve the problem of low utilization ratio of DC melting ice device
we have proposed a new DC ice-melting device—intensive DC ice-melting device with the combination of STATCOM and DC ice-melting device
which has the characteristics of capacity separate optimization for ice-melting and dynamic power compensation. The STATCOM inverter is connected to the grid by the rectifier transformer of 12-pulse DC melting ice which can make full use of rectifier transformer
provide dynamic reactive power support
improve power quality during ice melting operation mode
and effectively improve the device utilization. Simulations are carried out to verify the feasibility of intensive DC ice-melting device w
ith the features of melting ice
reactive power compensation
and voltage regulator. Finally
the test study of intensive DC ice-melting device is carried out in Fuchong transformer substation in Chenzhou of Hunan. The results show that the ice melting capacity is 28 MW and the dynamic reactive power compensation capacity is ±20 MVA. The intensive DC ice-melting device has a significant effect on melting ice
and can effectively improve system voltage stability; the 220 k V bus voltage positive deviation decreases by 0.92 %; 220 k V bus negative sequence unbalance decreases by 0.93%. Moreover
filter out low-order harmonics such as the 220 k V bus voltage total distortion rate decreases by 0.4% and the harmonic currents decrease by 0.1
