The domestic and foreign power sectors pay close attention to composite material tower for its excellent performance and development prospect
thus the long-term running aging performance of composite tower becomes urgent issues to be studied. There is not a general world-wide multi-factor aging standard for composite material tower at present. Consequently
we first proposed a 5 000 h multi-factor aging test mimicing the natural aging factors of composite material tower and samples for electric power
referring to the IEC 62217:2005/FDIS 5 000 h multi-factor aging test and according to the tests carried out for composite insulators. Then
we established a three-dimensional geometric model of 10 k V composite material tower’s head part
and simulated the electric field and potential distribution of the composite tower placed inside the multi-factor aging test chamber by using finite element method. The simulation results and the aging performance show that different parts of the test composite tower at the end of the test may be related. Simulation analysis therefore can provide a reference for the design of composite tower. After the aging test
the bending modulus and bending strength of the composite material samples for electric power are measured and all samples hold very high retention value maintaining at more than 90% of the original except for isophthalic unsaturated polyester(UP)/1:1 ones which displays the samples’ very good aging resistant performance. After the bending modulus
bending strength
and bending modulus retention rate being considered
modified polyurethane(PU)/1:1 roving material and pultrusion process are finally determined to producted 10 k V composite material tower.
