To guarantee safe operation of UHV transmission lines
we researched and simulated anti-galloping device which was based on real overhead transmission line in Comprehensive Test Technology Laboratory in Zhengzhou. We firstly established a finite element model of UHV transmission line and phase-to-ground spacer
simulated the aerodynamic actuation and the process of galloping
compared the response of the system before and after the device installed
and analyzed the effects of different pre-tightening forces and different installations. The results show that phase-to-ground spacer works well for anti-galloping
the peak value of span midpoint decreases by 62%
and the standard deviation of dynamic tension decreases by 77.5%
indicating that galloping of the line is significantly inhibited. At the same time
increasing pre-tightening force appropriately and coordinating against wind with appropriate pre-tightening force can make the device to work better.
