To research the characteristics of cathode line negative corona discharge in electrostatic precipitators(ESP)
corona discharge model is constructed based on coefficient-type partial differential equation(PDE). The model is used to describe the generation
transportation
adsorption and neutralization process of electrons
positive ions and negative ions during corona discharge. The distribution of three types of particles is discussed as well. Meanwhile
the electric field effects of the charged ions and electrons movement are taken into account. The results show that negative corona discharge occurs when cathode voltage is-70 kV
the electric field intensity reach maximum at the tip of cathode at the first 10 ns. The distribution of the low concentration cations area near the cathode is elliptical
while electrons and negative ions migrate toward the positive plate in parallel strip. The behavioral characteristic study of the charged ions and electrons could provide a great reference to understand the mechanism of corona discharge.
