Harmonics in electric power systems can affect the measurement
quality analysis
and relay protection of the power grid. The broad frequency range of electronic transformers makes them suitable for measuring harmonics. However
due to the absence of relevant test system
the measurement of harmonics accuracy for electronic voltage transformers(EVT) has not yet to be widely practiced. We set up a test system for harmonics accuracy of EVTs. A voltage divider system is set up using standard capacitors
and the divider’s actual voltage ratios are determined by measuring their capacitances under different frequencies. A high-voltage follower is developed for the system
connecting the divider system and the testing instrument
in order to increase its accuracy
and the follower’s errors are determined through self-calibration. Finally
the errors of the system are verified
the results are traced to existing standards
and the uncertainties are analyzed. The test results show that the measurement system can meet the requirements of GB/T 20840.8—2007 and IEC 60044-8: 2002 for measuring the errors of the 2 nd to 13 th order harmonics in EVTs 1 000 k V and below. It can also be used to measure the harmonics errors of non-electronic voltage transformers.
