We studied the corona aging characteristics of silicone rubber composite insulator by orthogonal tests in order to study the effects of pressure
humidity and aging time on the corona aging process. Meanwhile
we constructed a corona accelerated aging test platform of silicon rubber with adjustable air pressure and humidity
and used thermally stimulated current(TSC)
scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) to test the aged samples. The results of the range analysis showed that the changes of the pressure had the most significant influence on the trap charges
followed by the humidity and the aging time. Combined with TSC and SEM
it was found that there was more trap charges when the humidity was higher
and the humidity was more significant with the longer aging time. However
it could be seen from the TSC
SEM and FTIR tests that the results of aging states were inconsistent
and TSC tests had more influences on the corona aging characteristics caused by physical and chemical defects. Therefore
TSC results could be used as an effective criterion for the aging states.
