The AC flashover on epoxy insulators threatens the stability of GIS and GIL
so it is necessary to study this phenomenon in depth. Consequently
we studied the effects of epoxy resin process parameters on its gas-solid interface characteristics by various testing methods
and obtained the flashover performance along the interface by AC flashover tests. Moreover
we summarized the relationship between gas-solid interface characteristics and AC flashover by statistical methods. The results show that the interface properties and surface flashover properties of epoxy materials will be affected by the change of four technological parameters: release agent
cold and hot shock treatment
primary curing time and primary curing temperature. Three factors that have the strongest correlation with the AC surface-flashover voltage are dielectric constant
steady-state photon number
and surface conductivity. The lower the dielectric constant is
the higher the steady-state photon number is
and the lower the surface conductivity is
the higher the AC surface-flashover voltage of epoxy material will be. Various test methods and the results adopted in this paper will help reveal the internal relationship between gas-solid interface characteristics and AC flashover.
