To study the effect of structural form on the performance of the terminal connectors of UHV DC converter station
experiments and finite element calculation are carried out on the electric resistance and temperature rise of terminal connectors with different structural forms. The experimental results show that the resistance of the overlapping parts of the double-plate lap terminal connectors is lower than that of the same part of single-plate lap with the same tightening torque. With the decrease of the fastening torque
the increase of resistance of the double-plate lap terminal connectors is less than that of the single lap. The calculation results show that the temperature and the temperature rise rate of the overlapping part of the double-plate lap terminal connectors
under the same current intensity
are lower than that of the single lap
and the temperature rise rate of the terminal connectors can be reduced by increasing the fastening torque. With the decrease of section thickness
the non-linear increase of temperature rise of overlapping parts of the double-plate lap terminal connectors is less than that of the single lap. As the current intensity increases
the linear increase of temperature rise of overlapping parts of the double-plate lap terminal connectors is less than that of the single lap.
