Due to the existence of power coupling and the differences in feeder impedances in low-voltage microgrids
reactive power cannot be accurately shared by traditional droop control. In order to solve this problem
we put forward an improved droop control strategy to eliminate the distribution error of reactive power. Firstly
the mechanism of reactive power sharing is analyzed. The correlation between line impedance and reactive power is obtained. Then the feeder impedance is designed to be inductive based on virtual impedance to get power decoupling. Secondly
the adaptive part of virtual impedance is introduced and adjusted by reactive power
so that the output voltage differences caused by impedance differences can be compensated without detecting feeder impedance parameters. The accuracy of reactive power sharing can be further improved. Finally
the validity of the improved droop control strategy was verified on the Matlab/Simulink simulation platform and the experimental platform of the inverter parallel system by comparing the power distribution of two control strategies. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate that this improved strategy can decouple power based on a decisive virtual impedance. This virtual impedance can be adjusted by the communication between the central controller and local controller to realize the balance of reactive power. The strategy can be extended to different capacity and multiple inverters. The results show that the proposed strategy can effectively solve the problems of power sharing in the island mode of low-voltage microgrids.
