Abstract
A 3-dimentional transient thermal model was built to study the heat dissipation of a traveling-wave rotary ultrasonic motor. The overall heat lost was theoretically studied and numerically calculated with synthetic consideration given to the basic reasons for heat generation. The theoretical model was simulated by Ansys software, and the temperature distribution of critical positions was obtained.A set of temperature testing system was built to verify the theoretical model and the simulating results, which showed that calculated results are basically agreed with experimental data.Analytical and experimental methods gained from this paper can be useful for heat source optimization of the traveling-wave rotary ultrasonic motor.
