Abstract:
Electrical equipment heating is often a warning of failure. Therefore, temperature monitoring is an important part of equipment inspection. In this study, a reversible thermochromic intelligent superhydrophobic coating is prepared by the simple spraying method. Silicone rubber is used as the substrate to provide low surface energy, and thermochromic microcapsules and silica nanoparticles are used as the filler to construct micro/nano hierarchical structure. The prepared coating demonstrates excellent stability, for it remains superhydrophobic even after UV exposure, sandpaper abrasion, tape peeling, and strong alkali/acid solution treatment. Moreover, the coating exhibits excellent surface discharge resistance, and the flashover voltage can be increased by 12.14% compared with the traditional RTV coating. Based on excellent superhydrophobicity, intelligent temperature discoloration and resistance to surface discharge, this coating can be widely used in self-cleaning or electric insulation, temperature warning and other fields.
