Abstract:
On July 30 and 31,2012,two widespread blackouts occurred in India. The blackouts affected the largest number of people so far.The two successive blackouts were both caused by the trip of a certain 400kV line of inter-regional corridors between northern and western grids.Subsequent faults resulted in breaking down of the power grids. The blackouts influenced the power supply of northern, eastern, and northeast grids. The pre-fault situation of Indian power grid, cause, spread, and restoration of the blackouts were described.Furthermore, the reasons of the blackouts were analyzed in detail from the aspects of technology, management and structure. Finally, certain suggestions to ensure the security and stability of China power grid and prevent the occurrence of blackout in China were proposed.
