Abstract:
Wind turbine wakes in wind farms generate the effect of wake overlap. To accurately calculate the wind speed distribution in the wake, the paper establishes a wind farm wake model (3DCLEWFM) based on the previously proposed three-dimensional cosine-shaped entrainment wake model (3DCLE model) for a single wind turbine, considering the wake overlap effect. The 3DCLEWFM model is validated by the measured data from Horns Rev offshore wind farm and Nørrekær Enge onshore wind farm. The results show that 3DCLEWFM can accurately predict the output power of wind turbines in wind farms under different wind directions, and the accuracy of 3DCLEWFM is improved by 65% and 86% compared to the Jensen wind farm wake model (JWFM), and 48% and 66% compared to BPA wind farm wake model (BPAWFM) in both cases.
