Abstract:
Photovoltaics will play a crucial role in the future energy system, featuring a new electric power system based mainly on renewable energy. Although silicon solar cells have been widely applied, they still have shortcomings such as complex fabrication process, high cost and limited application scenarios. Semitransparent perovskite solar cells (S-PSCs) can greatly expand the application scenario of photovoltaic technology. Herein, we summarize the recent progresses and the future prospects of S-PSCs. We start with describing the characteristics of perovskite materials and the S-PSCs. And then, two key factors for the development of S-PSCs, namely the fabrication of perovskite films and the production of the transparent electrodes, are systemically reviewed. The paper was finished by showing the applications of S-PSCs in high efficiency tandem solar cells and in agricultural photovoltaics.
