Abstract:
This paper carries out statistical analysis on the approved projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC) Joint Fund for Smart Grid and the Joint Fund for Corporate Innovation and Development of NSFC (the new-type power system field) in 2017-2022 in terms of technology field, project title, and host institution. The results show that the research and development focus of the joint fund has been dynamically adjusted closely in accordance with the dual needs of discipline development and industry transformation. Among all the research fields funded, the traditional business areas in power system such as large power grid security, equipment operation and maintenance, and power distribution are still the major concerns of the joint fund. At the same time, the NSFC also actively tracks technologies that may have revolutionary impacts on the future development of power grids, such as integrated energy, artificial intelligence, and energy storage. With different professional advantages, research institutes affiliated to the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), universities, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and other research institutes will collaboratively play an important role in the construction and innovation of the new-type power system.
