Abstract:
Power system with high penetration of renewable energy is the main road to achieve the strategic goal of Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality. Energy storage is an effective way to eliminate the intermittence and instability of renewable energy and further improve renewable energy penetration. Compressed air energy storage technology (CAES) has the merits of large-scale, low cost, high efficiency, etc., which is regarded as one of the most promising energy storage technologies. A state-of-art of compressed air energy storage coupled with renewable energy is reviewed in this study, which includes CAES-Wind/Solar energy coupled system, CAES- Biomass energy coupled system, CAES-hydrogen energy coupled system, CAES- Geothermal energy coupled system, etc. The operation principle and parameters are summarized. These CAES- renewable energy combination solutions can provide a reference for the development and application of large-scale compressed air energy storage and renewable energy.
