Abstract:
Linear power supply topology with excellent performance waveform is a common driven current source topology for high power laser driver in quasi-continuous operation mode (QCW). Owing to its linear operation, it has a large power loss and poor load adaptability, especially in high power applications. Switched mode power supply has a higher efficiency, however, many challenges have been proposed, such as fast pulse edge, low current ripple. This paper proposed a pulse current source topology based on multiphase parallel and inductive energy storage. The inductive pre-charge and pulse circuit were used to generate fast rise and fall edge. Multiphase parallel was adopted to realize high power and low current ripple of flat-top current by using phase-shifting method. The proposed topology and its two different operating modes of S-DCM and S-CCM were analyzed in detail and the conditions of repetition frequency and high efficiency in two modes were given. A hybrid high precision control method of average current sharing and fixed duty cycle was proposed for pulse source control. The correctness of theoretical is verified by simulation and experimental results.
