Opportunities and Challenges in the Development of Nuclear Energy Today

  • 摘要: 碳达峰、碳中和目标的提出对我国核能发展提出新的要求,如何正确理解核能在未来新型能源体系下扮演的角色和作用,是当今核能行业需要迫切回答的问题。该文面向“双碳”目标下我国新型能源系统建设需求,分析核能发展的必要性和面临的挑战,指出核能因其技术成熟、供热稳定、绿色环保等优点,是实现以风能、太阳能为基础的新型电力系统的安全稳定基荷电源,发展核能是助推实现“双碳”目标的重要举措之一,是历史的必然选择。同时,文章指出发展核能所要面临的一系列挑战,为我国建设核能产业、助力双碳目标实现提供思路和方向。

     

    Abstract: The goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality has put forward new requirements for China’s nuclear energy development. How to correctly understand the role and function of nuclear energy in the future new energy system is a question that the nuclear energy industry needs to answer urgently. Based on the construction needs of China’s new energy system under the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goal, this article analyzes the necessity and challenges of nuclear energy development. It is pointed out that nuclear energy, due to its advantages such as mature technology, stable heating, and green environmental protection, is a safe and stable base load power for future new type power systems based on wind and solar energy. The development of nuclear energy is one of the important measures to promote the achievement of the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goal and is an inevitable choice in history. At the same time, the article also points out a series of challenges to be faced in the development of nuclear energy, providing ideas and directions for China’s construction of the nuclear energy industry so as to achieve the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goal.
