Abstract:
A full-scale model of a room with a new dynamic Trombe wall with phase change material on one side and insulation material on the other was tested to investigate the thermal performance of the wall. The performance is evaluated by measuring the wall and room air temperatures as well as the heat flow and airflow rate through the wall. The results show that the temperature variations become gentle during the phase change process of the PCM,the ratio of the heat obtained through the glazing to the whole heat obtained by the wall is26.2% and the wall utilizes 90.1% of its stored energy to heat the room. During the discharging period of the PCM,the wall reduces the stratification of the indoor temperature while the temperature in the middle of the room is maintained at least 3.2 ℃ above the outdoor temperature.
