Abstract:
Based on numerical simulation of the aerodynamic characteristics for wind turbine airfoils,the effects of the single-row and double-row rectangular vortex generators(VGs)installed in three chordwise positions on airfoil dynamic stall under pitch oscillations are investigated. The calculation results indicate that VGs can effectively suppress the flow separation,increase the maximum lift coefficient of airfoil,delay the onset of dynamic stall,and eventually improve the unsteady aerodynamic performance. The VG installed near the airfoil leading edge performs better control dynamic stall effect than that near the airfoil trailing edge. Additionally, the doublerow VGs further suppress the flow separation and reduce the aerodynamic hysteresis compared with the single-row VGs.
