Abstract:
Dongpu depressions is an area with very rich natural gas resources so far, three different originated gases have been found, i. e, coal gas, oil associated gas and mixture of both. High deposition rate of Lower Tertiary caused the seconda-ry gas generation process of the underlain caal bed systems within the Carboniferous-Permian sequences and also caused overxnaturity of many oil source beds in Lower Tertiary and became gas prone, therefore abundant gas sources are available in the depression.Intense faulting and subsiding activities has caused the forming of the regianal tectonic pattern with deep sags parallel with high lifted uplifts and also the forming of various structures and structure trends. The frequent chaaging of the lithologic characteristics may form various stratigraphic traps. In Dongpu depression area, there are numerous gas reservoir horizons are vertically existed on stratigraphic section but they are relatively concentrated within a particular stratigraphic interval. The main gas bearing zones are mainly those deeper formations underlain beneath the formation of Shag
32. The gas rich accumulations are laterally formed in those structures situated at the sagging and periphery part of the depression. This was interpreted by the fact that gas generation is strongly intensified at central part of the depression and the gas trapping mechanizms are provided by Iithologic lateral changing and faulting seals.
