Abstract:
Based on CINRAD/CC Doppler radar data,MICAPS conventional weather observation,NCEP reanalysis, and automatic station precipitation, the heavy hail weather process in the eastern part of the Gannan Plateau in the afternoon of May 6,2020 was analyzed. The results show that the unstable stratocumulus caused by afternoon warming, the dynamic uplift of plateau topography and the configuration of high and low altitude circulation were the main causes of this strong hail.In the evolution of hail cloud development, typical hail cloud features such as echo center intensity ≥55 dBZ,hook echo, weak echo region, overhanging echo, and mesocyclone and mesocyclone and mesocyclone had significant impact on the hail weather approaching forecast. In addition, the hailing process and supercell were closely linked, hail body formation and landing in the mesocyclone around the strong echo region mainly presented hook echo characteristics.
