Abstract: Due to the special topography and climate conditions in mountainous areas northwest of Ningxia,there occur local catastrophic strong winds that mostly cause wind-induced flashover of transmission lines. Based on wind force scale,environmental features and other parameters in the wind zone as well as operation and maintenance of transmission lines,this paper instance Shizuishan of Ningxia to propose and apply countermeasures against wind damage. The results show that the proposed countermeasures can significantly reduce the wind-induced flashover fault and tower damage of transmission lines,improve the safe and stable operation level of transmission lines,and can be promoted and applied.
