Abstract:
In actual operation, the reactive power regulation range of photovoltaic (PV) inverters in PV plants is usually smaller than the requirements of national standard, and the automatic voltage control (AVC) system in PV plants adjusts the reactive power of PV inverters slowly. In this paper, a single-stage non-isolated voltage source (VSC) PV inverter is compared with a static var generator (SVG). The simulation result shows that the PV inverter has a dynamic reactive power response time within 30 ms and a reactive power capacity higher than the requirement of the national standard. In consideration of the reactive power loss in the plant, the simulation research on the reactive power regulation capability of the inverter group of the PV plant is carried out. Finally, a transformation for rapid power regulation capability of a PV power plant is carried out, and ideal results have been obtained in the field test.
