Development of a Low-Voltage Service Drop Wire Stripping Tool

  • This paper addresses the issues of low efficiency, easy damage to conductors, and poor stripping accuracy in the stripping of low-voltage service drop wires in rural power supply stations. A new type of stripping tool has been developed, suitable for 10 mm² and 16 mm² insulated wires. The tool employs a single-strand clamping design combined with the lever principle, enabling the separation of double-strand wires and insulation cutting. By replacing the blade molds to adjust the wire diameter and using aviation aluminum and alloy steel materials, the tool ensures strength and durability. Field tests demonstrate that the tool can quickly strip the insulation sheath, minimize conductor damage, and achieve visual control of the stripping length, effectively resolving the problems associated with traditional stripping tools.
