Abstract: In response to the Global Energy Internet strategy, protecting the security of coordinated hydro and wind power generation, the demands of wind power and hydropower coordinated operation (WHCO) for information and communication technology was analysed. Combined with the development of power grid information technology, the WHCO-information and communication protection network (ICPN) was proposed. The overall functional architecture of information and communication protection network is built. The key technologies were presented. Finally, a specific WHCO-ICPN system was built in the coordinated hydro and wind power generation scheduling system. The information sharing, information communication delay and security defence function of the system were introduced. The system provides a solid technical support for the Global Energy Internet strategy needs and has great engineering value in practice.
