self-designed test facilities were constructed to investigate the high-pressure hydrogen leakage process. The mass flow rates of hydrogen leakage from a nozzle with a 1 mm diameter were measured for various storage pressures ranging from 10 to 70 MPa
encompassing the designed working pressures of onboard storage tanks of tube trailers and fuel cell vehicles. The mass flow rates were calculated by assuming quasi-one-dimensional
isentropic flow using the Abel-Noble equation of state. Subsequently
the discharge coefficients were determined as the ratio of the measured to calculated mass flow rates for various test conditions. The results show that the discharge coefficients range from 0.57 to 0.60 for the present tests.
