This paper addresses the DC-side impulse current caused by the integration of a dual active bridge (DAB) into low-voltage AC/DC hybrid distribution systems. A low-voltage AC/DC hybrid distribution system with DAB-based interfacing is considered. The circuit structure and control scheme under DAB integration are firstly analyzed. Based on the equivalent circuit model
a calculation method for the DC-side impules current is then developed. Typical operating conditions are investigated
including distributed generation interfaced through the DAB and bipolar short-circuit faults on the DC bus. Time-domain analytical expressions of the DC-side impules current are derived. The accuracy of the proposed method is validated through simulations. The transient characteristics of the DC-side impulse current and the influencing factors are further analyzed using the analytical results and simulation data.
