Key issues, technical countermeasures and research prospects for enhanced recovery of the Sulige giant tight sandstone gas field
As a typical giant tight sandstone gas field in China
Sulige gas field has entered a stage of long-term stable production and enhanced gas recovery (EGR) after more than 20 years of large-scale commercial development. In response to critical problems
including the fragmentation of remaining gas in enriched zones
the deterioration of reserves in low-abundance zones
the difficulty of mobilizing resources in water-bearing zones
and the challenges in managing low-yield and low-efficiency wells
this study systematically examines the key issues constraining the long-term stable production and enhanced gas recovery of Sulige gas field:(1) the controlling effects of multi-scale reservoir architecture on the distribution of remaining gas; (2) the coupling mechanisms of stress
pressure
and flow fields in the three-dimensional development of multi-layer reservoirs; (3) the mechanisms of microscopic flow and macroscopic reserve utilization under complex gas-water relationships; and (4) intelligent diagnosis and optimal control of production dynamics throughout the full life cycle. Centering on these issues
the paper proposes the core technologies for reservoir architecture characterization and remaining gas recovery
synergistic production through three-dimensional well-pattern development
water- avoidance production in water-rich zones
and intelligent management of low-yield wells. To address the current limitations of gas field development technologies
future efforts should strive to make breakthroughs in key areas including the construction of digital twin system of gas reservoirs and fine-scale recovery of remaining gas
multi-layer three-dimensional development based on geology-engineering integration
quantitative characterization of microscale flow and development of water-control and gas-enhancement materials
and the establishment of intelligent development and management platforms. This study aims to provide theoretical guidance and technical support for enhanced gas recovery in the Sulige giant tight sandstone gas field
serving as a reference for the efficient development of other tight sandstone gas reservoirs under similar geological conditions.
