A Novel Protection Scheme for AC Transmission Lines in Renewable Energy Power Systems
To address the declining adaptability of traditional AC protection in renewable energy power systems, this paper proposes a novel protection scheme for AC transmission lines.Firstly, based on typical fault cases in renewable-integrated grids, the shortcomings of conventional AC protection in practical engineering are thoroughly examined.Subsequently,by deriving analytical expressions for short-circuit current and sequence impedance angles, the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of the transient current and sequence components from inverter-interfaced sources are revealed.Ultimately, two improved protection methods are proposed in line with engineering requirements, effectively resolving the adaptability issues of conventional protection.Simulation results demonstrate that this scheme significantly enhances the adaptability of AC protection in scenarios with integrated renewable energy sources, without requiring additional hardware investments.
