MGP-based Grid-connection Control and Optimization Method for Photovoltaic Power Stations
Current research on renewable energy integration systems via motor-generator pairs (MGP) primarily focuses on stability analysis, lacking systematic technical solutions for startup and grid connection. Addressing this gap, this study takes a megawatt-level photovoltaic (PV) power station as an example. By improving traditional vector control strategies, it proposes a three-phase grid-connection scheme where the station-level inverter drives the MGP. Firstly, constant voltage control and constant speed control are designed for the DC boost and inverter stages respectively, ensuring the MGP starts sequentially and reaches its rated speed. Secondly, a phase difference control strategy is introduced for fine-tuning the grid-synchronization phase difference. After grid connection, the system switches to a no-load state to suppress inrush current. Finally, once the transient response subsides, all PV units switch to steady-state control modes, gradually increasing active power output. PSCAD/EMTDC electromagnetic transient simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme enables reliable MGP startup, ensures smooth transitions between phases, and results in minimal inrush current on both the PV units and the grid side.
