With the increasing scale of new energy integration
the flexibility of the power grid is decreasing
especially theability of frequency modulation is becoming more and more prominent. The large-scale electrolytic hydrogen production systemhas emerged as a potential frequency modulation resource for the power system because of its fast response speed and largepower level. To investigate the ability and effectiveness of large-scale electrolytic hydrogen production system participating inpower grid frequency modulation
this paper first analyzes the electrical energy demand of electrolyzer to determine thetopology of hydrogen production power supply.Subsequently
the equivalent mathematical model of hydrogen production powersupply and the mathematical model of electrolyzer are derived.Secondly
the principle of proportional droop control is analyzedto develop the control strategy for large-scale electrolytic hydrogen production system participating in primary frequencymodulation of the power system. Finally
the simulation verification of large-scale electrolytic hydrogen production systemparticipating in power system frequency modulation is carried out.The simulation results indicate that the large-scale hydrogenproduction system participating in the primary frequency modulation of the power system can not only increase the lowestfrequency after disturbance by 0.04 Hz
but also reduce the frequency deviation in the dynamic process. Therefore
the large-scale electrolytic hydrogen production system has the ability to provide active support for the power grid and suppress thefrequency fluctuations of the power system.
