To address the significant energy consumption associated with heating during winters in northern China
a residential community in Handan is examined. A model of a photovoltaic photo-thermal coupled medium-deep ground source heat pump (PV/T-GSHP) system
driven by low valley electricity
is constructed using TRNSYS software. This model takes into account the local disparities between peak and valley electricity prices. The operational strategy that utilizes low valley electricity is investigated
alongside an analysis of the soil thermal imbalance issue encountered by the ground source heat pump (GSHP) during long-term heating. The effects on heating performance are analyzed both with and without valley electricity heat storage
culminating in an evaluation of the PV/T-GSHP system concerning energy efficiency
environmental benefits
and economic viability. The findings indicate that: the optimal strategy for the PV/T-GSHP system is Scheme Ⅲ
achieving over 90% utilization of valley electricity during the heating season; the annual cumulative heat replenished to the soil is 976.82 kW·h more than the heat extracted from the soil
maintaining the soil thermal balance; energy consumption is reduced by up to 74.93% compared to conventional systems; CO emissions can decrease by as much as 74.94%
and operational costs may drop by up to 77.27%.
