In order to study the effect of large scale wind turbine in tension leg type FOWT (Floating Offshore Wind Turbine)
the DTU 10 MW and NREL 5 MW wind turbines are taken as the research objects
and the coupling model of wind turbine-tower-floating foundation-mooring system is established. Time domain simulation is carried out and the influence of large scale FOWT is studied by comparing the difference in the floating foundation motion and blade deformation results. The results show that the large scale wind turbine leads to the increase of the motion of the floating foundation and makes the coupling effect more conspicuous and the frequency component more complex. Under the rated environmental condition
compared with the 5 MW model
the mean value of the surge motion of the 10 MW floating wind turbine increases by 47.2%
and the equilibrium position of the heave motion changes significantly. The intensity of the pitch motion is 1.7 times that of the former
and the pitch motion of the foundation exhibits more complex resonance characteristics. Meanwhile
the average out-of-plane deformation of the large scale wind turbine blade is 1.6 times that of the 5 MW wind turbine
and the in-plane deformation intensity is 1.8 times that of the 5 MW model. In addition
the blade deformation of 10 MW floating wind turbine is more sensitive to change of wind speed.
