To investigate the influence of wind and wave environmental parameters on the design loads of multi-megawatt offshore wind turbines
offshore wind form environmental parameters from Chinese maritime areas were selected as variables. Dynamic response
extreme loads and equivalent fatigue loads of the IEA 22 MW offshore monopile reference turbine were computed using OpenFAST. Based on regional marine characteristics
turbulence intensity and wind shear coefficient were categorized into three levels
and the joint probability distributions of wind and waves for each region were established using Copula functions. Analysis of variance and random forest methods were then employed to assess the influence of various environmental parameters on the components of the equivalent fatigue loads. Furthermore
by analyzing the load responses under extreme conditions
the effects of a 50-year return period extreme wind speed
significant wave height and wave period on the loads at the mudline were examined.
