Analysis of low-frequency oscillation in a wind power integrated power system with multi-traction substations
With the continuous increase in the penetration of new energy sources
particularly wind power
into power systems
electrified railway traction substations and wind farms may be simultaneously connected to the grid at the same point of common coupling (PCC)
potentially introducing new types of power-electronic-based grid integration stability issues. In this paper
a modular modeling method is adopted to establish a harmonic state-space (HSS) model of a power system with two traction substations and a wind farm connected to the grid. This model takes into account the phase rotation connection scheme on the high-voltage sides of the traction substations and multiple feeder arms. Eigenvalue analysis is then used to study the low-frequency oscillation characteristics of the system under different spatial distributions of trains
as well as the influence of wind farm output power and train power variations on the oscillations. The variations in the participation factors of the wind farm in the system’s low-frequency oscillation modes under different conditions are analyzed. Finally
the correctness of the theoretical analysis is verified through simulations based on the MATLAB/Simulink platform.
