Research progress in kinetic behaviors optimization of magnesium-based hydrogen storage alloys
Hydrogen is an ideal energy carrier because of its high chemical
environmental protection and renewable properties. How to storage hydrogen is one of the largest limits that restrain the hydrogen energy development. In order to realize safe and efficient hydrogen storage
solid hydrogen storage materials represented by magnesium alloy are considered as one of the most promising hydrogen storage materials due to their high hydrogen storage capacity and low cost. However
the problems such as slow hydride reaction kinetics behavior and high thermodynamic stability
high hydrogen absorption/desorption temperature and low hydrogen absorption rate
hindered the application of magnesium based alloys. In recent years
a lot of achievements have been made in thermal/kinetic modification of magnesium-based hydrogen storage materials. This paper focuses on the recent progress of alloying
nano/amorphous
catalyst addition
compound and thin film. Furthermore
the research status of magnesium-based hydrogen storage kinetics is summarized
and the possible development direction in the future is proposed.
