Development and pilot scale study of NICE absorbent for CO2 capture
The development of low energy consumption chemical absorbent has become the focus of the industry. The NICE series absorbents developed by National Institute of Clean-and-Low-Carbon Energy in China were tested in the laboratory for their absorption-desorption performance
viscosity parameters
reaction heat and corrosivity
and the optimized performance of the NICE absorbents was tested on the pilot scale of Zhejiang University to study the renewable energy consumption on a 500 t/a CO_2 capture device. The results showed that
in laboratory test
compared with MEA absorbent
the maximum loading of NICE-2 absorbent increased by 54.5%
the cyclic loading increased by 61.2%
the reaction heat reduced by 6%~20%
the corrosion rate of 304 stainless steel decreased by 81.3%
and the viscosity was close to that of commercial absorbents. In pilot scale test
the CO_2 removal rate exceeded 80%
and the optimized minimum regeneration energy consumption(calculated by CO_2) was 2.85 GJ/t and the liquid gas ratio was 1.82 L/m3. This study preliminarily verified the low energy consumption performance of the NICE absorbents and provided a basis for their industrial application.
