Research on using electric energy storage to improve frequency regulation performance of thermal power units
with the rapid development of clean energy in China
the phenomenon of abandoning wind and light is prominent
and the frequency modulation resources of power grid are scarce. In order to increase the frequency regulation resources of power grid and reduce the abandonment of wind and light
electric energy storage is applied to improve the frequency regulation performance of thermal power units. By taking a thermal power plant in west China as an example
this paper discusses the working principle of improving the frequency regulation performance of thermal power units using electric energy storage. Through data analysis and theoretical calculation
according to relevant policies
it is concluded that using electric energy storage to improve the frequency regulation performance of thermal power units is safe
economic and feasible. In this paper
a battery energy storage system is installed in a thermal power plant to participate in AGC frequency regulation. The initial investment is estimated to be 29.19 million yuan
and the average annual income can reach 13.14 million yuan in five years
with significant economic and social benefits. This conclusion can also be applied to the same type of thermal power units and the power systems they belonged.
