The content of alkali metals such as potassium and sodium in the ash of furfural residue is high
which leads to a decrease in melting point of ash. Therefore
during the combustion process of circulating fluidized bed(CFB)
the agglomeration tendency of bed material is serious
which directly affects safe and economic operation of the boiler. To alleviate the agglomeration problem during the furfural residue combustion
this paper systematically investigates the agglomerating law of furfural residue during combustion in CFB
on the basis of analyzing the basic physical and chemical characteristics of furfural residue. In a small scale hot-bubble fluidized bed test device
the effects of temperature and additives on the agglomerating characteristics of furfural residue are studied
and scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy are used to detect the microscopic characteristics of the bed material. The test results show that
as the temperature increases
the agglomeration tendency of the bed material to stick increases
and the time to maintain the fluidized bed shortens. During the combustion process of furfural residue
the operating temperature should be controlled below 900 ℃. Adopting high melting point additives can alleviating the agglomeration tendency of bed material. Compared with limestone and high alumina
kaolin is relatively a more effective anti-sticking additive.
