The honeycomb CuCl2/SCR catalyst: preparation and its mercury removal performance
was prepared. The preparation of CuCl_2/SCR was similar to that of the commercial SCR catalyst
the differences lied in the addition manner of active component and the pH adjusting agent. A composite powder was firstly obtained through loading CuCl_2 in γ-Al_2O_3 in the presence of KCl
and then the powder as an integral component was added into the mixing process. Meanwhile
choosing tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide as the pH adjusting agent instead of aqueous ammonia. These changes helped to obtain a honeycomb CuCl_2/SCR catalyst. Moreover
the catalytic oxidation performance of the above preparation process and catalyst on elemental mercury in real flue gas was also studied. The results showed that
in real flue gas
the CuCl_2/SCR catalyst showed a catalytic efficiency of about 75% for Hg~0 oxidation. The aid agent KCl could prevent CuCl_2 from volatilizing at high temperature in the catalyst
where CuCl_2 existed in the form of skeleton copper and surface copper. The two kinds of copper both showed catalytic activity for Hg~0 oxidation. The use of tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide could avoid the deactivity of CuCl_2/SCR resulting from the copper ammonia reaction.
