Experimental study on heat requirement of furfural residue during pyrolysis
A thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimeter(TG-DSC) and a self-built experimental bench for pyrolysis of large-sized biomass particles were employed to investigate the instrinsic pyrolysis characteristics of furfural residue
and the pyrolysis heat demand of large furfural residue particles under conditions with different pyrolysis temperatures
particle sizes and carrier gas flow rates was detected. The results show that
the slow pyrolysis process of the furfural residue could be divided into two stages
the thermal decomposition of raw materials and the degassing and reconstruction of semi-coke
both are endothermic. Moreover
at lower heating rate
there was a higher degree of overlap between the two stages. Through analysis
it found that
at heating rate of 30 ℃/min
the heat requirement of the furfural residue pyrolysis was 739 kJ/kg. The heat requirement of the furfural residue particle pyrolysis was lower than that of the powder
and showed positive correlations with the pyrolysis temperature and particle size while had little relation with carrier gas flow rate
indicating that the pyrolysis of the furfural residue particles was closely associated with the internal heat transmission inside the particles.
