Modeling of oxy-fuel combustion system coupling with pressurized oxidation chemical looping air separation
Oxy-fuel combustion provides a very efficient way to capture and store carbon dioxide. However
oxyfuel combustion with cryogenic air separation unit(CASU) will consume large amount of power
and the power consumption of oxygen preparation will increase with the oxygen concentration. Chemical looping air separation(CLAS) is an effective oxygen generation method for oxy-fuel combustion with little energy consumption and high purity oxygen content. In order to solve the problem of excessive heat consumption in the process of reduction reaction in conventional chemical looping air separation unit
the pressurized oxidation chemical looping air separation method was applied in this paper. Simulation on the oxy-fuel combustion process coupled with cryogenic air separation unit
conventional chemical looping air separation
and pressurized oxidation chemical looping air separation were carried out. The results show that
the methane consumed during oxygen preparation using the pressurized oxidation system is 12.7% of that using the conventional chemical looping
and the net efficiency of the oxy-fuel combustion system with coupled pressurized oxidation chemical looping air separation can achieve 34.0%. This system is superior to the CASU and CLAS in respects of basic investment and operation costs.
