Based on the coal mining in Liupanshui area of Guizhou Province
the progressive failure process and failure mode of the slope above a mine-out area were studied by the centrifuge model test and numerical simulation. The displacement fields in mining process were obtained based on the centrifugal model test. Simultaneously
the FLAC
3 D
was used to simulate the centrifugal model test process. The numerical results are in good agreement with the time history curve of the slope displacement obtained from the test results. By comparing the numerical and experimental results
it is shown that the distribution of the plastic zone and the testing points are basically consistent with the failure process of the slip surface. Meanwhile
the glide plane between the through slope toe and the goaf formed from the bottom to the top and it beard shear dislocation failure. The slip surface of
the through-slope shoulder and goaf was a complicated failure process from top to bottom: tension failure at initial stage
tensile failure and shear failure simultaneously at middle stage and dramatic shear slip failure at final stage.
