Microalgae are currently being considered as one of the most promising feedstock for biofuel production owing to their superior photosynthetic efficiency and lipids production potential than conventional terrestrial plants. Unfortunately
microalgal biofuel production has not been commercialized due to its high costs. High rate algal ponds(HRAP) has been developed as an efficient wastewater treatment technology based on the microalgal characteristics of high growth rate and superior nutrition absorption capacity. The producing biofuel from microalgae harvesting from wastewater treatment HRAP effluent is a meaningful approach for realizing mass microalgal biofuels production.
