A Hammerstein model of continuously variable cam phase adjustment system(CVCP model) for gasoline engines was built
of which a dynamic linear model of the phaser was constructed based on the moment balance equation and dynamic flow continuity equation
a nonlinear static model of the oil control valve(OCV) was established according to the pressure-flow characteristics map
and a control-oriented graphical model was set up using the Matlab/Simulink tools. Open-loop control tests were conducted at different oil temperatures on a variable valve timing(VVT) system test bench
and the CVCP model was verified using the phase-angle step response measurement data of different amplitudes and directions. The results show that the fitting degree of the CVCP model is higher than 98% under all the experimental conditions and the root mean square error is less than ±1°.
