With the acceleration of urbanization and the growing scarcity of land resources
using river embankments as transportation roads has become an important form of infrastructure integration utilization in some regions. However
the construction of traffic roads and ancillary facilities may adversely affect the structural safety of river embankments
thereby weakening their flood control and drainage functions as well as long-term service performance. This study takes the embankment of Wanglou River in Ledong County
Hainan Province
as a case study
constructs a load action model under typical working conditions and uses standardized methods to conduct safety review analysis on the strength of the embankment top pavement structure
embankment stability
and foundation settlement
based on field investigations and design documentation. Through a quantitative evaluation of stress responses of river embankments under different traffic loads and boundary conditions
the study reveals the structural adaptability and potential risk factors associated with embankments serving dual functions. Targeted safety assurance measures and optimization suggestions are proposed accordingly. The findings provide theoretical support and engineering references for the design
evaluation
and upgrading of multifunctional embankment systems.
