To improve the steady-state regional voltage control and transient voltage support capability of power systems
this paper proposes a secondary voltage coordinated control strategy based on phasor measurement units (PMUs). The strategy integrates static synchronous compensators (STATCOMs) and generators into a unified framework
addressing the key technical issues of their coordinated regulation. First
the initial partitioning is preprocessed under the constraint of minimum node number
and fast partitioning is realized according to the modularity index
thereby determining the dominant nodes and STATCOM installation locations. Second
based on limited PMU measurement data
a method for online estimation of load disturbances and optimal PMU placement is proposed. A coordinated control strategy aiming to minimize regional voltage deviation is established
which effectively eliminates the reactive power reverse regulation between STATCOMs and generators. On this basis
a reactive power transfer mechanism between generators and STATCOMs is designed to release the transient reactive power margin of STATCOMs
and the reactive power distribution inside generator sets is optimized on the basis of static sensitivity. Finally
MATLAB/PSCAD co-simulations are carried out on the IEEE 39-bus system
verifying the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed strategy.
